As a primary sunscreen provider, the recent inconsistent independent lab test results revealed a Sun Protection Factor of 29, which didn’t meet our standards.

While other People4ocean products continue to test consistently, the Lightly Tinted Cream SPF 50+ Mineral Bioactive showed a pattern of variability that we were not comfortable with.

We are no longer using the original testing

What are you doing to make sure this never happens again?

We completely understand your concern around ensuring that this never happens again, and there are additional safeguards in place. Our entire range has recently been re-tested at independent third-party labs.


These labs have also been audited by BIPEA, to ensure the laboratory is providing reliable results.


Moving forward, we will be testing the SPF protection of all products at certified independent labs, in addition we will maintain our formulations in lab testing for their shelf life to ensure that they provide consistent protection.

How do you decide which filters to use?

We develop using the most efficacious and efficient filters based on research and continue to use Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide as our primary UV filters. While balancing cosmetic elegance, viscosity,
and overall formula style. We ensure we have an effective broad-spectrum UVA and UVB coverage.

A guiding formulation principle is protecting the skin health of our client and preservation of our marine eco-systems.


We use filter’s and ingredients that are known to be ocean and human conscious.


We also ensure that our SPF products are compliant with each region the product is available.

Will you be reformulating Lightly Tinted Cream SPF 50?

Yes, 100% - this is currently in process
and has been prioritised, and we are
working on a pure mineral, mattifying SPF
that is both ocean-conscious and
providing that lovely blurring effect to the
complexion.

Can I decant my sunscreens without affecting effectiveness?

Do not decant your sunscreen! This applies to any sunscreen – the product’s packaging is specially designed and tested to protect against light, air, and heat, to ensure its stability.

Is SPF still effective even if it was shipped in the summer and exposed to hot temperatures?

Yes! As a part of the regulatory process, all listed SPFs are stability tested to withstand extreme temperatures (45°C/113°F). This testing includes cold temperature conditions.
